Ar Goll (“Lost” ) is an experimental design object that encapsulates being Welsh and Gay- two clashing identities that must exist simultaneously in my life.

Although the stool is a critical response to my personal trauma it is one shared with many others. Commenting on contemporary often coercive urban assimilation of young queer individuals from conservative backgrounds leading to the forced detachment from heritage in my case Welsh.   

When you put something so deep and personal into a body of work it’s almost therapeutic to get it all out at once. Coming to grips with the fact that I have trauma from growing up in an environment where my sexuality still held stigma, was not easy- and what this object does is captures that struggle for ‘harmony’ creating something that is confusingly beautiful.
